When Seogwipo Submarine first opened in 1988 it was the first tourism product of its kind in Asia, and third of its kind in the world. On JIAH, a state-of-the-art submarine, you will be taken on a unique and enchanting tour deep into the mysterious and beautiful ecosystem of Jeju’s ocean near Mun Island to see the world's largest soft coral colony.

- Establishment of Daekuk Subsea Co., Ltd.
- 1988
- Construction of the tour submarine Maria in Finland
- Arrival of the Maria at the Port of Seogwipo
- The Maria registered with Korean Register of Shipping (KR) and inspection completed
- Completion of the Seogwipo Tour Boat Passenger Terminal, report submitted of tour submarine business, and tour services commence
1990s

- The passenger ferry Daekuk No. 1 built and put into service
- 1997
- The marine rescue ship Daekuk No. 2 built and put into service

- The tour submarine Jiah built at a Finnish shipyard and put into service
- World’s first tour submarine service to receive ISO-9001 certification
